Call for Papers
Themes of the OSB 2008 will be interdisciplinary by its nature and focus on bridging
opportunities between Optimization and Systems Biology studies. We are
particularly interested in submissions that report on theoretical, experimental
and applied research motivated by systems biology problems. Theoretical and
applied papers are expected to show convincingly the usefulness and efficiency
of optimization algorithms discussed in a practical setting. Typical, but not
exclusive, topics of interest are:
- Optimization Theory & Applications
- Approximation Algorithms
- Combinatorics
- Neural Networks
- Data Mining
- Machine Learning
- High Performance Computing
- Information Theory and Statistical Analysis
- Gene Regulatory Network
- Protein Interaction Network
- Protein Structures and Functions
- Comparative Genomics
- Microbial Community Analysis
- Quantitative Models of Cellular and Multi-Cellular Systems
- Designing and Modeling Synthetic Biological Systems
- Nonlinear Dynamics and Analysis of Biological Systems
All submissions will be rigorously peer reviewed and evaluated on the quality,
originality, soundness, and significance of their contributions. Original research
papers are solicited in all aspects of Optimization, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology
and Computational Biology, including but not limited to the above topics.
The proceedings of the conference will be published in the series
Lecture Notes in Operations Research (LNOR),
and will be available at the conference. Papers of LNOR OSB 2008 will be submitted
to ISI for ISTP index. The selected papers are going to be published on the
special issue of IET Systems Biology and
International Journal of Bioinformatics Research and Applications (IJBRA) on OSB 2008.
